The Toms River Communications Center is located at Police Headquarters (known as District 1) and is broken up into two sections: police dispatch and fire dispatch under the direct supervision of a police sergeant. Fire dispatch handles all calls for fire and EMS for the town and dispatches for 6 fire companies, 6 first aid squads, the Bureau of Fire Prevention, Office of Emergency Management, automatic and mutual aid fire / first aid. The staff enters calls into a Spillman's high-performance Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system that tracks calls for service and unit activities.
