The Toms River Communications Center is located at Police Headquarters (known as District 1) and is broken up into two sections: police dispatch and fire dispatch under the direct supervision of a police sergeant. Fire dispatch handles all calls for fire and EMS for the town and dispatches for 6 fire companies, 6 first aid squads, the Bureau of Fire Prevention, Office of Emergency Management, automatic and mutual aid fire / first aid. The staff enters calls into a Spillman's high-performance Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system that tracks calls for service and unit activities. Silent Keys THE COMMUNICATIONS DIVISION HAS LOST A PART OF ITSELF, BUT THE CHARACTER WILL LIVE ON IN THOSE WHO WORKED WITH THEM. THE FOLLOWING IS IN HONOR OF OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS THAT WE HAVE LOST. WHEN THEY LISTEN TO THE RADIO, DO THEY HEAR THE EMOTIONS WE FEEL? CAN THEY HEAR WHEN WE'VE BECOME UPSET BY A CALL? CAN THEY HEAR WHEN WE'RE ANXIOUS ABOUT THEIR SAFETY? MOST OF ALL, DO THEY HEAR THE REAL PERSON BEHIND
