Mission

During a Joint Board of Fire Commissioners meeting in July of 1991, the board expressed a desire to find a mechanism by which items of concern to all six Toms River Fire Companies could be brought for action to the joint board. The Toms River Fire Officers Association would be recognized as an “umbrella” organization for both fire districts. The inaugural meeting of the restructured Toms River Fire Officers Association” was held on January 29, 1992 at the Silverton Fire House.

The key elements are as follows:

1. The Toms River Fire Officers Association shall be an “umbrella” organization consisting of the Toms River District # 1 and District # 2 Officers Associations.
2. To foster the spirit of cooperation, communication and camaraderie between the fire companies of Toms River.
3. To promote standards in tactics, operating procedures and equipment where appropriate.
4. To serve the interests of the officers of the fire companies of Toms River in any and all dealings with the Fire Prevention Bureau, Fire Academy, Communications Center and Joint Board of Fire Commissioners.
5. To provide a formal means of communication and cooperation between companies of Toms River and the fire companies of surrounding and adjacent jurisdictions.
